QTU Peace Awards 2009

The Department of Education has granted permission for the QTU to present Peace Awards in Queensland State Schools in 2009.

Awards theme

Helping others in tough times

Key issues for consideration

  • Famine
  • Flood
  • Fire
  • Helping the homeless
  • Economic issues
  • Retrenchment
  • Adversity issues

Entries

Students in all Queensland State Schools are invited to participate. A template is available here.

Entries must take the form of an A4 size design.

Any digital entries should be stored as a jpeg file.

Entries may be submitted according to the following categories:

  1. Prep to Year 1
  2. Years 2-3
  3. Years 4-6
  4. Years 7-9
  5. Years 10-12
  6. Special Education

Prizes

The winner of each category will receive an award to the value of $100. Special awards (to the value of $50) may also be presented in each category.

Closing date for entries

The judging of the entries will be conducted by the QTU's Social and Environmental Issues Committee. The Committee's decision will be final.

All entries should arrive at

The Teachers' Building

21 Graham Street, Milton

by 4 September 2009.

Winners will be notified by early November.

All entries must have the following information:

  • name
  • school
  • address
  • year level

Note: It is not possible to return any entries.
