Letter to the editor, The Courier-Mail, 13 October 2009
A review of your own newspaper and of the ECQ disclosure return would show that the QTU made no donations, and that the bulk of the Union’s expenditure was for three advertisements in The Courier-Mail that clearly held all candidates to account on the issue of poor pay for Queensland teachers. It is astonishing that an advertisement headline such as “Important question for all Qld politicians… Why are Queensland teachers among the lowest paid teachers in Australia?” could be interpreted as supportive of the Labor government, which at the time of the election was responsible for the parlous state of teachers’ pay.
