This page lists important current and background information for QTU members regarding the enterprise bargaining process for a replacement certified agreement for Queensland's State School teachers.

Agreement certified

30 Nov 2012: The Queensland Industrial Relations Commission certified the proposed Department of Education, Training and Employment State School Teachers' Certified Agreement 2012 today. Click here to read the Members Newsflash.

What's next:

After certification, the 2.7% per annum pay increase will be backdated to 1 September and will be paid early in 2013.

The DETE ballot:

The state government opened their ballot on Wednesday 31 October 2012 and it closed on Thursday 15 November.

16 November 2012 : The announcement made today that “teachers vote to accept pay rise” is about the DETE ballot of employees, that followed the QTU’s ballot in October.

The DETE ballot is required under industrial relations legislation so that the agreement can be certified in the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.

Comparison of clauses - first offer and current offer

The QTU has analysed clause-by-clause the differences between the Government's initial offer (in June) and the second offer. The acceptance of this second offer will be determined by the ballot of members currently underway.

Members have returned ballots with an overwhelming rejection of the government’s offer.

12 June 2012 : EB7 update

Today, the QTU’s negotiators met with and informed the Department of Education, Training and Employment that the QTU Executive had unanimously resolved to reject their first offer for a new EB agreement for teachers.

6 June 2012: Offer rejected - EB campaign continues

The QTU Executive met this morning and rejected the EB package offered by the government yesterday morning and distributed directly to members by the department late yesterday. The QTU will seek to continue negotiations next Tuesday.

EB7 – Draft claim ready for consultation : 4 October 2011

The draft claim will be subject to member consultation through branch meetings being conducted across the state this month

Members give resounding support to QTU's EB7 claim

After August State Council, the QTU sought feedback from members during a three-month consultation process, which included 75 branch meetings, sub branch meetings and individual feedback from members.
