Marriage equality survey – ensure your vote is returned by 27 October

The QTU has been active in the Yes campaign for marriage equality.  The decision was made based on QTU Policy, which is determined by democratically elected representatives at the QTU Biennial Conference and QTU State Council.

Booklet G, Section of the Policy states: “We call on the federal and state governments to ensure that their discrimination laws cover all aspects of law relating to LGBTIQ people.  These must include laws on marriage…”

One of the core roles of a union is to tackle inequality, and the issue of marriage equality is fundamentally one of a group of people experiencing discrimination because of their sexuality.
