Protect our Preschools campaign
Members who work in prep and the early years know the difference that a quality kindergarten program makes to a young child entering schooling. Yet the federal government has yet to guarantee that the 15 hours of funding for kindy programs (preschool in other states) it has been providing for all four year olds across Australia will continue beyond the end of this year.
Sign the petition now and join with your colleagues interstate in calling on Federal Education Minister Simon Birmingham to commit to secure permanent funding of those hours, to allow all of our children to continue accessing quality kindy and preschool programs in early childhood settings such as C&K centres and long day care/childcare centres. See the campaign website for details. protectourpreschools.com.au
QTU stands in solidarity
The Queensland Teachers’ Union wishes to express its shock at the killing of 17 people at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, and stands in solidarity with the many brave teachers who risked their own lives to protect the students in their care.
These horrific events reveal the deep commitment and bravery of members of our profession under the most extreme of circumstances, and we are proud to stand with them at this terrible time.QTU, 16 Feb 2018
