Guidance officers

March 2009 : The QTU has been made aware that some of its Senior Guidance Officer members are concerned about the implications for them of the Continuing Professional Development Framework. Specifically, since most SGOs are based in Regional Offices there are concerns that a narrow interpretation of the recency of practice requirement might deem them as not having taught in a school for the required 200 days over five years.

Feedback  is sought from Senior Guidance Officer members - read the article on the Queensland  College of Teachers “Recency of Practice” requirements

June 2008 : The QTU has received a number of inquiries about the conversion of Guidance Officer positions to classified Band 5 positions. The links below will take you to two documents.

The first document provides a QTU perspective on the process; the second provides answers to some frequently-asked questions.

It is also important, if you have not already done so, to view the information provided by Education Queensland

All Guidance Officers should now have received a letter from Education Queensland which sets out their status in terms of eligibility for the transition phases.

If you have not received a letter, you should contact your Regional Office urgently.

Please note that there is a process if you think the information provided in the letter is incorrect or if there are other issues that you believe should be considered.
