The Queensland Teachers' Union : The Voice of the Teachers

On 9 January 1889, 23 teachers and principals from schools across Queensland came together to establish the first teachers’ union in Australia — the Queensland Teachers’ Union (QTU).

Today, more than 50,000 educators working in Queensland state schools and TAFEs are proud members of the QTU.

From providing support and safety in challenging times, to securing better pay and conditions, and standing up for the teaching profession, the QTU is your professional voice.

With more than 135 years of experience, only the QTU has the strength and expertise to protect and promote public education in Queensland.
