Transfer request appeals
Myth : I can’t appeal if DET refuses my request for transfer.
Fact : You can make an internal appeal against DET’s decision (though note that external appeals through the Public Service Commission are no longer possible). The teacher transfer process is vacancy driven and a teacher’s transfer points will usually determine the preference order for applicants requesting a transfer into a particular geographic area. The exceptions to this would be compassionate (exceptional hardship) transfers and required transfers, neither of which is determined by points. Please see the Teacher Transfer Guidelines for further information about the role of transfer rating points in the process.

QTU stands in solidarity
The Queensland Teachers’ Union wishes to express its shock at the killing of 17 people at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, and stands in solidarity with the many brave teachers who risked their own lives to protect the students in their care.
These horrific events reveal the deep commitment and bravery of members of our profession under the most extreme of circumstances, and we are proud to stand with them at this terrible time.QTU, 16 Feb 2018
