Camps, excursions and playground duty replacement
Myth : Our school has a policy that if you are on camp or an excursion you have to find your own PGD replacement.
This is really hard and takes lots of time, because no one wants an “extra”. Is it my job to find my own replacement?
Fact : First, attendance at and participation in school camps and other outside school hours extra-curricular activities is purely voluntary.
The QTU believes it is not the teachers’ responsibility to swap their bus and/or a playground duty for this time; the usual practice is that this is a responsibility for administrators.
The certified agreement states that the development of bus and playground supervision rosters must be in consultation with staff through the Local Consultative Committee.
