The new agreement
With the new agreement due to be certified tomorrow, its timely for members to consider the new conditions that it will provide. These include:
- reduction of flexible student free hours from 15 hours to 10 hours per year
- changes to the application processes for EST and ST
- provisions relating to workplace health and safety and practical subject class sizes
- access to permanency after two years of temporary engagement
- changes to the RAIS scheme
- increased NCT for beginning teachers
- increased NCT for primary and special school teachers
- a new classification structure for heads of programs and school leaders
- a new step for EST
- the introduction of the Principles of Good Workload Management.
A full list of these new provisions can be found at www.qtu.asn.au/
These changes enhance working conditions – they do not erode them. Consequently, members should remain familiar with all of their working conditions. Including rostered duty hours, NCT, outside of school activities etc. The basic guide to these conditions is in the current Journal or can be accessed at www.qtu.asn.au/
If you believe that your working conditions do not comply with those outlined, you should contact your Organiser or QTAD for assistance.
