Letter to editor of The Courier-Mail, Thursday 3 August 2010
The highly damaging "Leading Schools" program and the Queensland Teachers' Union's successful campaign against it have both been raised in The Courier-Mail's letters page.
Through successive enterprise bargaining negotiations over the past few decades, the QTU has worked to ensure that the worst excesses of the previous Queensland Coalition Government's "Leading Schools" program can not be forced onto Queensland teachers and principals. Such protection is necessary both for QTU members' working conditions and for the teacher transfer system that is critical in a state as large and diverse as Queensland.
