TAFE EB10 Bulletin no.5 3 June 2019
URGENT EB ACTION for TAFE educators' conditions and salaries.

With the current agreement reaching its nominal expiry date at the end of June, TAFE Queensland has less than four weeks to make an offer that will deliver a new salary classification structure for both Education Team Leaders and Higher Education (a commitment from the current agreement), work towards addressing the issue of gender employment equity, improve access to permanent employment, address programming matters to reduce increasing workload pressures, and provide salary increases that ensure TAFE Queensland educators are paid at levels that are at least comparable with interstate colleagues.
Despite commencing negotiations with TAFE Queensland for a replacement agreement in March, there has been very little progress towards reaching an agreement to improve members’ conditions and salaries.
In response to the slow progress of negotiations, on Saturday 1 June, QTU TAFE Council determined that if a combination of any of the following threshold issues remain unresolved that could trigger industrial action::
- Salaries that achieve comparability with interstate colleagues and address the cost of living.
- A new salary classification for Education Team Leaders and Higher Education
- Processes to address gender employment equity
- Factors to mitigate increasing workload.
As a matter of urgency, the QTU is hosting a series of TAFE tele-townhall meetings this week. QTU members in TAFE Qld will have the opportunity to register for a tele-townhall to hear more about statewide industrial action and to have questions answered.

The QTU’s TAFE EB10 Bulletins have been reporting on bargaining for a replacement certified agreement. It is increasingly urgent that TAFE Queensland resolve the QTU log of claims as we count down to 30 June, the nominal expiry date of the current agreement.
