Back to school with the Fair Funding Now! van tour
Queensland Teachers' Journal, Vol 124 No 1, 15 February 2019, page no. 10
The Fair Funding Now! campaign is back in full swing, with the launch of the Back To School national van tour on 4 February. The Queensland launch took place at the Kangaroo Point Cliffs in Brisbane as part of a live national hook-up, with our three Queensland vans travelling throughout the state sharing our stories about why we need fair federal funding for all local schools.
We have also welcomed on board our three campaign coordinators (pictured bottom left with Brendan), who will be traveling in the vans and working with local parents, teachers, school leaders and community members to ensure everyone knows about what is at stake when the federal election swings around in the first half of this year.
- Dan Coxen will be coordinating our Central Queensland campaign, covering the electorates of Capricornia and Flynn (ffncq@qtu.asn.au).
- Lisa Broadhurst will be coordinating our Metro North campaign, covering the electorates of Dickson, Petrie and Longman (ffnmetronorth@qtu.asn.au).
- Louise Nicholls will be coordinating our Metro South campaign, covering the electorates of Bonner, Forde and Griffith (ffnmetrosouth@qtu.asn.au).
Across the next few months we will be engaging with local parents and members of the community throughout the state, talking about what additional funding will mean to the lives of students in state schools. As educators, we know the transformational power of education, and sharing our stories with others will build support for funding reforms across the community.
We will continue to campaign to ensure that all state schools receive their fair share of federal funding and that every student, no matter where they live or whatever their family circumstances, is provided with the opportunity to achieve to their full potential.
