THE PROFESSIONAL AND INDUSTRIAL VOICE OF QUEENSLAND’S TEACHERS AND SCHOOL LEADERS IN STATE SCHOOLS AND TAFE FOR MORE THAN 130 YEARS.

Additional primary non-contact time - 28 July 2021

In the enterprise bargaining negotiations in 2019, the QTU achieved an increase to non-contact time, which was reflected in Department of Education State School Teachers’ Certified Agreement that year.

From the commencement of the 2022 school year, an additional 30 minutes of non-contact time (NCT) will be provided to primary classroom teachers, including teachers working in special schools, special educations programs (SEPs) and specific purpose sites.

This increase will take the provision of NCT for a full-time classroom teacher to no less than 150 minutes per week (pro rata for teachers working on a part-time basis).

As is current practice with NCT, the increase will be used, at the discretion of the teacher, for the purposes of undertaking the necessary planning, preparation, and correction tasks to effectively carry out the role as teacher.
