Workload can be generated for school leaders, heads of program and teachers at various levels. Requests for data can be excessive. Schools should have a current data plan and it should outline what data will be collected and the purpose. If a new request for data is not referenced in the school data plan, it should not be completed.
The QTU and the department agreed to the Joint Statement on the Purpose and Use of Data in State Schools to ensure clarity for school leaders, heads of program and teachers on the expectations relating to data. A copy of the current joint statement is available on the QTU website here
The Joint Statement outlines what is required. If additional data is to be generated and recorded, workload impact must be considered and support/ resourcing provided to complete the request. If you do not have a current data plan in your school, it should be raised with your local QTU Workplace Representative and listed for the next Local Consultative Committee (LCC) meeting.
