Leading action on workload - 10 March 2021

At our union reps conference last week, members engaged in a session titled “Leading Action on Workload”. Members were asked to identify the first action they would take this week to engage fellow members about workload reduction in their workplace.

Here are the top two they identified:

1. COMMUNICATE the workload reduction resource and workload reduction action plan. This might be by way of conversations, email, meetings or noticeboards to members.

2. CONSULT on priorities for workload reduction via meeting of members and or LCC meeting.Which ones are you engaging with?

Establishing good working relationships with members and school leaders at the workplace will allow you to work together to firstly know your working conditions and to take the next steps to achieving workload reduction. Consider what practices that are currently carried out that add little or no value when it comes to our core business of teaching and learning.

Use the workload reduction resource (see the links below) and the workload reduction action plan available on the QTU website to determine what the priorities are for members at your workplace.
