QTU position statement on NAPLAN
Queensland's teachers have their work cut out for them with planning, teaching, assessing and reporting on the curriculum and helping students with their social and emotional development - preparing the citizens of the future. They certainly they don't have time to dedicate hours and hours to NAPLAN preparation and an over emphasis on NAPLAN data.
On Friday the QTU launched a new position statement on NAPLAN in Queensland schools. This will form the basis of negotiations with the department on a joint statement addressing NAPLAN in our schools.
QTU members are encouraged to use the DoE/QTU Joint Statement on the Purpose and Use of Data in Queensland Schools (www.qtu.asn.au/js-data) along side the new position statement on NAPLAN (www.qtu.asn.au/ps-naplan) to commence a discussion in their workplace about the impact of NAPLAN and identifying the data and evidence that really matters.
