Newly elected Federal Government
While the final count of the House of Representatives remains uncertain, a new Labor Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, has been sworn in. This provides hope for the proper funding of state schools and TAFE, and hope for a more kind and respectful society.
While we wait for the outcome of the Senate, it looks likely that we will have a teacher and QTU member, Penny Allman-Payne, as a new Senator for Queensland.
We would like to thank all QTU members who came out to support the Every School, Every Child and Rebuild with TAFE campaigns. Your dedication and passion to the students you teach cannot be underestimated.
Teachers make a difference everyday in the lives of their students and communities. Appropriate federal funding for our state schools is vital to the future and the success of the teaching profession.
We still have work to do to ensure that appropriate federal funding flows through to our state schools and TAFEs, but with the advent of a newly elected federal government comes renewed hope for permanent and lasting change.
