THE PROFESSIONAL AND INDUSTRIAL VOICE OF QUEENSLAND’S TEACHERS AND SCHOOL LEADERS IN STATE SCHOOLS AND TAFE FOR MORE THAN 135 YEARS.

From the General Secretary's desk, 14 Dec 2022 | Open PDF

Like all Queenslanders, the QTU and its members are trying to come to terms with the tragic deaths in western Queensland on Monday.

We are all trying to reconcile how this could happen. Everyone deserves to return home safely from work, no one should be hurt or killed for doing what is right.

We understand that we are all feeling the effect of this tragedy, some more personally than others.

Like teachers and school leaders, police are in all communities across our state – many working closely with our members.

Yesterday the QTU expressed its condolences to the Queensland Police Union and its members. We also express our condolences to the families and friends of those who were killed.

The QPU has set up a Remembrance Fund to support the families of Constables Arnold and McCrow. If you wish to contribute the details are:
