Bulletin 13 Aug 2019
As you may be aware, there was recently an issue that affected some instrumental music teacher members pertaining to their teacher type. For affected members, their teacher type was appearing as ‘instructor’ instead of ‘teacher’.
Members brought this issue to the attention of the QTU. Following formal correspondence sent to the department by the QTU, this issue has been resolved.
The department has communicated the outcome of this concern, as raised by members. The department’s response has been published via the Music Resource Centre calendar and news section and is as follows:
" A number of teachers have noted anomalies in their job classification on One School.
TSS (HR payroll system) provides the source data for MyHR and for One School. Teachers’ payslips show the correct position title. There have been no changes to the classification of teachers and instructors in TSS.
The data in the Position column in One School comes from TSS. The information which is surfaced in the Staff Details tab of One School is added by the individual school in the Timetable under Configuration > Lookup Tables > Additional Roles Types.
In the example of one particular teacher, the previous school this teacher was working at had added ‘Instrumental Music Teacher’ in this table and then attached it to her (2016 & 2017). The new school has not (2018 & 2019). The timetabler at the school could add these using the file path above if they choose.
The timetabler at the school can change the description of the teacher in One School and may need to update the position title if there are issues. However, the position title in One School does not change the teacher’s, or instructor’s, substantive position." As per the communication provided by the department, if you are still having issues, you can raise your concern with the timetabler at your school.
This is a positive outcome for our instrumental music teacher and instructor members.
