THE PROFESSIONAL AND INDUSTRIAL VOICE OF QUEENSLAND’S TEACHERS AND SCHOOL LEADERS IN STATE SCHOOLS AND TAFE FOR MORE THAN 130 YEARS.

13 Jan 2022

Since the announcement was made last Sunday, to add an additional week of school in 2022, many QTU members have contacted us to express their views. The QTU was not consulted prior to this announcement and we oppose the extra week.

The QTU wrote to the Premier of Queensland and the Minister for Education on Monday, to express our concerns on behalf of members, to request that the decision to extend the school year be reversed.

The QTU Executive has met to consider future action should the decision not be reversed, and high-level discussions are currently taking place with senior department officials. It is hoped that a satisfactory resolution can be reached in the very near future.

Members will be provided with an update via email on the outcome of those discussions. In the meantime, please monitor important updates from the Director-General of Education in relation to arrangements for a return to work.
