Queensland Teachers' Journal, Vol 126 No 2, 12 March 2021, page no. 4
The 2021 QTU Bob White Scholarship has been awarded to Julius Time to assist him in his quest of becoming a teacher.
Julius, who graduated from Glenala State High school in 2020, received $2,000 to support his education related expenses as he studies for a Bachelor of Education (secondary) and a Bachelor of Business at the Queensland University of Technology.
He was a Glenala State High school leader/ School Captain in 2020 and was awarded The Annastacia Palaszczuk Community Spirit Award and the Australian Defence Force Long Tan Leadership Award.
Julius comes from a Polynesian background, and both of his parents are currently in Samoa. He lives with his older sister and worked while studying to provide for his family.
The annual scholarship assists former students of Glenala State High School enrolled in an undergraduate education/teaching degree at a public university in Queensland.
It was established in recognition of QTU life member Bob White’s contribution to the Union over approximately 40 years. Bob taught for many years in Inala leading up to his retirement, first at Richlands State High School and then at Glenala when Inala SHS and Richlands merged.
