QTU Deputy General Secretary Kate Ruttiman has been elected as the Queensland Council of Union’s first woman honorary president.
Kate joins General Secretary Michael Clifford in the QCU’s new-look leadership team.
Formerly a secondary economics and English teacher, Kate has been QTU Deputy General Secretary since 2010, the first woman to join its secretariat. She also serves on the boards of QSuper and Queensland Work Health and Safety.
The QCU, which is the state’s peak union body representing more than 350,000 members throughout Queensland, is heading into 2020 with a renewed focus on fighting for secure jobs and decent wages for Queensland workers.
