To QTU Members
Negotiations continue after QTU meets with government
Senior Officers of the QTU met with the Premier, the Minister for Education, the Minister for Health, the Chief Medical Officer and the Department today.
Progress has been made in relation to:
- Vulnerable teachers and school leaders not attending work
- The exclusion of sick students from school
- Commitments in relation to vulnerable students in special schools and SEPs and Health and Safety measures for these settings
- Teachers and school leaders in remote communities
A response about the closure of schools to students will occur after the National Cabinet Meeting on Tuesday.
The QTU will provide more detailed information to members tomorrow morning.
To be clear: the discussions with the government are ongoing and our position around school closures hasn’t changed. This is a complicated negotiation and an unprecedented situation and we appreciate members patience.
