Negotiations have been in hiatus since December 2021, with key negotiators on leave over Christmas and New Year. The university has requested that the recommencement of formal negotiations be delayed until the end of March. Read more here..

7 July 2021: CQU Newsflash 0521
Following the first formal meeting of the Central Queensland University (CQU) Single Bargaining Unit (SBU) on 27 May, the parties to the agreement have continued to meet formally in pursuit of a replacement agreement. SBU meetings are held on Thursday afternoons, both face-to-face and via Zoom.
30 April 2021: CQU Newsflash 0321
At the beginning of April, the AEU(Q)/QTU shared its log of claims with the university and the other parties to the Central Queensland University Enterprise Agreement 2017 to commence bargaining in good faith. The agreement nominally expires on 30 June.

As was stated in CQU Newsflash email #1, the Log of claims is important because when all the parties provide their logs, they set the agenda for the negotiations. Whether they are claims for improved pay or conditions lodged by a union on behalf of workers or an employer’s call for increased efficiencies or trade-offs for pay increases, the log of claims will define the matters that will be addressed in the negotiation.
1 April 2021: CQU Newsflash 0121
Late on Tuesday 30 March, the AEU(Q)/QTU shared its log of claims for the 2021 enterprise bargaining round on behalf of members. Today, 1 April, is the last date the log of claims can be exchanged in order to commence negotiations for a replacement of the Central Queensland University Enterprise Agreement 2017. The agreement nominally expires on 30 June.

Welcome to 2023!

This year we see the continuation, and hopefully conclusion, of bargaining for a replacement CQU enterprise agreement. You should have already received a 1 per cent administrative pay increase as of 1 January.

The AEU(Q)/QTU has been in contact with both Central Queensland University and our colleagues at the NTEU to discuss resumption of negotiations.

We anticipate that talks will recommence in early February. As matters progress we will, of course, keep you informed. We very much look forward to concluding the bargaining process and being able to implement the positive changes to working conditions that have been negotiated.
