2022 Pearl Duncan Teaching Scholarships
Applications are now open for the Department of Education's 2022 Pearl Duncan Teaching Scholarships
The scholarships are named in honour of Pearl Duncan, an Aboriginal educator who has dedicated her life to improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation in education. Developed by the department in 2000, these scholarships assist aspiring teachers who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander to complete an initial preservice teacher education program and make a difference in education.
The scholarships provide financial assistance of up to $20,000 (before tax) to assist with study and related expenses, and also offers an opportunity to secure permanent employment as a teacher in a Queensland state school after graduation.
