Taking care of member workload and wellbeing
Workload is possibly the biggest issue plaguing educators today. It results from the pressure the system places on schools, school leaders, heads of programs and teachers to do more things without removing others, and the pressure we place on ourselves to be seen as “professionals”.
And the impacts extend beyond the workplace. An educator’s workload and their wellbeing are inextricably linked. Workload pressure can leave you feeling stressed and overwhelmed.
The QTU has been working with DET to develop resources and tools addressing issues that increase workload and impact on wellbeing, including joint statements and new clauses in the certified agreement. However, for these tools to have an impact on workload, they need to be used.
On this page you will find a range of resources designed to help schools undertake a health check, which will reflect on anything within or outside the school that contributes to workload and wellbeing issues. Please use them - we should never be too busy to talk about and act on workload issues.
