QTU calls on TAFE Queensland to respect great teachers in EB11
The QTU has commenced negotiations with TAFE Queensland for a replacement certified agreement. The current TAFE Queensland Educators Certified Agreement 2019 has a nominal expiry date of 30 June 2023.
The QTU’s EB11 campaign is arranged in three parts:

Respecting great teachers
Our QTU log of claims was informed by the results of an online member survey that was conducted in February. In response to the statement, “TAFE Queensland and the QTU urgently need to undertake succession planning for TAFE Queensland’s workforce,” 45.1 per cent of respondents strongly agreed and 32.1 per cent of respondents agreed.
This result underpins our first item which is respecting great teachers.
TAFE Queensland have responded positively to the QTU proposal that our delegates on the TAFE Queensland Consultative Committee will work with and be consulted on the development of a new TAFE Queensland Workforce Plan.
While a workforce plan is largely a strategic document as opposed to an industrial instrument, the workforce plan will support a suite of other interests in our log of claims such as our call on TAFE Queensland to adopt measures to support workforce diversity and adopt measures to define career pathways and development.
QTU negotiators recognise Good Faith Bargaining protocols. We will continue to put forward members’ views as part of the bargaining process.
TAFE Queensland has 91 days to provide an acceptable offer in response to the QTU’s log of claims.
As the Easter vacation is upon us, we encourage you to disconnect from digital technology and we wish you a safe and restful break.
