The QTU has released a new Workload Position Statement. You can access it here: https://www.qtu.asn.au/ps-workload
The new statement defines workload as the composite of the amount and the complexity of work that is undertaken by an individual employee or group of employees. Excessive workload occurs when unreasonable hours of work and increasingly complex work is undertaken by members of Queensland’s teaching profession.
Queensland’s teaching profession has witnessed the failure of successive national and state governments to adopt measures that reduce teacher workload. The result is continued increases in hours of work per week and complexity that are reported in teacher and school leader workload surveys.
The position statement identifies some of the levels and sources that contribute to workload and makes recommendations to redress them. This includes recognising the industrial instruments that are available to QTU members.
We welcome member feedback on the development of the new statement. Please email it to email@example.com
