The TAFE Queensland Educators Certified Agreement 2019 prescribes salaries and many of the working conditions for TAFE Educators. The agreement has a nominal expiration date of 30 June 2023. The QTU is leading the negotiations for a replacement certified agreement.
Our negotiations are informed by our six month Listening Tour that visited every branch throughout the state. Following our Listening Tour, in February 2023, the QTU TAFE Division’s Enterprise Bargaining Online Survey was open to all members, and responses to the survey shaped our log of claims. Our QTU TAFE Council, that includes elected delegates from every branch of the QTU’s TAFE Division, endorsed our log of claims at its meeting in March.
The QTU negotiations are led by QTU Deputy General Secretary, Brendan Crotty. Our QTU team have been at every meeting with the single bargaining unit since negotiations commenced on 23 March 2023.

QTU members vote to accept new EB11 offer
QTU TAFE Division members have voted to accept TAFE Queensland’s revised formal offer, with 96 per cent of votes cast in the recent TAFE member ballot voting YES to accept the offer settling the EB11 negotiations.
The QTU’s EB11 ballot commenced on Wednesday 6 September and was open for seven days. The ballot closed on Wednesday 13 September. On Thursday 14 September, QTU TAFE Executive received a report on the ballot, endorsed the result and called on senior officers of the QTU to report the ballot result to TAFE Queensland. TAFE Queensland will now consult with employees and conduct a separate ballot.
Subject to the employer ballot, the new EB11 offer means that eligible employees will receive a three per cent COLA payment based on salaries at 30 June 2023, and then a four per cent salary increase with backpay to 1 July 2023.
