THE PROFESSIONAL AND INDUSTRIAL VOICE OF QUEENSLAND’S TEACHERS AND SCHOOL LEADERS IN STATE SCHOOLS AND TAFE FOR MORE THAN 135 YEARS.

Temporary, contract and casual QTU members

The QTU provides support for members in temporary, contract and casual positions (who face a range of unique issues in their employment) by providing ready access to advice and information; detailed information brochures; a dedicated e-newsletter “Temporary Teacher Communiqué”, and advocacy and advice throughout the conversion to permanency process.

Assistance is available through QTAD (the Queensland Teachers’ Assist Desk) and your local Organiser, while specialist QTU Officers are there to help with more complex issues.

Temporary to permanent update

Changes to the process for temporary/contract to permanent conversion occurred in 2023 to align with the updated Public Sector Act 2022. Information on the new process is contained in the information brochures in the below section. Additionally, the department of Education has updated information on OnePortal.

Members who are eligible to have their employment status reviewed should request a statement of service from Payroll Services.
