Timelines for housing repairs

Myth :  I moved into government-provided accommodation this year; only two of the four elements on the electric stove work. I have been told that there is no timeframe within which such non-urgent maintenance needs to occur, and I will just have to wait until other maintenance is due.

Fact : Building Asset Services have required response times for unplanned repairs. Non-urgent repairs such as broken stove elements, dripping taps or jamming doors should be fixed within 14 days. (Urgent maintenance such as break and enters, storm damage or electricity or gas failure should be addressed within 24 hours.)

More information, including on how to escalate any maintenance issues, is in the QTU advice brochure “Teacher accommodation maintenance: a guide for QTU members”.
