Workload and wellbeing - 11 August 2021

Queensland teachers have been working harder than ever during COVID-19. In the current certified agreement, the QTU insisted that the Department of Education recognise that, as an employer, it has an obligation to provide effective work practices that support wellbeing, work-life balance, and a safe work environment. We have consistently held the view that the wellbeing of teachers and school leaders is paramount.

In the context of COVID 19, we continue to seek advice from the department and the CHO to provide responses for members in relation to their work and wellbeing, including the advocacy for teachers and school leaders to be recognised as essential workers.
