New appointments

Anthony Luck was appointed as the QTU’s new Legal/Industrial Officer. He is a primary classroom teacher from Mansfield SS and a QTU activist who has held many roles in the Union, including in Mt Gravatt branch and as Council Rep for Metropolitan South Area Council.He has recently been acting in the Legal/Industrial Officer role and has previously acted as Industrial Advocate. He has also worked as a Principal Human Resource Consultant in South East region. Anthony brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, particularly in assisting school leader members with legal and industrial advice.
Caleb Rook was appointed as the QTU’s Metropolitan Central Organiser. A humanities teacher and year level coordinator from Kenmore SHS, Caleb has been acting in the role since the start of 2022. Caleb is a Captain in the Army Reserves who has been recognised for his leadership, skill, and training. He has been active in the QTU as Branch President, and State Council and Area Council Rep. He has already proven his abilities by supporting members with complex issues in schools in his region and has worked closely with other Metropolitan Organisers to successfully campaign for wins for members.
State Council also held elections for QTU Executive. Executive members for the new term are: Maika Bailey, Lisa Broadhurst, Josh Cleary, Peter Darben, Nicole Elkins, Shane Hancock, Joel Hanlon, Liam Holcombe, Kate Kermode, Natalie Montague-Clarke, Cassie Munro, Amanda Power (First Nations Representative), Nick Shirley and Scott Tibaldi (TAFE Representative). We would like to thank all outgoing members of the QTU Executive for their activism and dedication to Union governance.
