School opinion survey 2024
School opinion surveys open between 22 July and 16 August, and we often field a number of questions from members at this time. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions.
Is it compulsory to do the survey?
Participation in the survey is voluntary. Respondents are strongly encouraged to provide their opinions to ensure that the survey results are representative of the opinions at each school.
Will feedback remain confidential?
Your responses will be strictly confidential and the information is used in ways that protect individual responses. All responses are protected by the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld). The department is legally bound to ensure that no identifying information is published or released. Personal details such as email address are used for the distribution of invitations and identification of duplicates. All personal details are removed and deleted from your responses prior to data storage and reporting.
When are the survey results available?
Survey results are scheduled for release in Term 4 each year. Reports for individual schools are distributed in early Term 4 and may be requested directly from your school.
Who is the survey contact?
If you have any questions or concerns about the School Opinion Survey that cannot be resolved by your school, please email SchoolOpinionSurvey@qed.qld.gov.au.

If you take long service leave after seven years but resign prior to 10 years of service, do you have to pay back the leave taken?
Teachers are eligible to apply for long service leave after seven years’ continuous service, although a payout of long service leave upon resignation would not occur until the completion of ten years’ service.
A teacher who has accessed their entitlement to long service leave (as leave) and happens to resign prior to ten years’ service would not be required to repay the long service leave.
