QuEST: Face-to-face training, across the state
Queensland Teachers' Journal, Vol 124 No 6, 16 August 2019, page no. 26
QuEST, the new QTU professional development branch, has commenced the semester with a rollout of our most popular face-to-face programs across the state.
These face to face programs are proving very popular with members, with most sessions selling out prior to the event. If you wish to register for one of these events, please go to https://www.qtu.asn.au/QuEST/quest-face-face-training and select the program you are interested in. Please make sure you have permission from your school before registering for professional development events during school time.
In addition to these events, QuEST also provides tailored professional development on a consultancy basis. I have recently been in Far North Queensland working with a range of teachers and school support staff in both Atherton and at the Norther Peninsula Area College delivering training on brain development and working with traumatised children/young adults.
QuEST can tailor programs to suit individual clusters and schools. Some of the programs being delivered around the state through this model include:
- classroom management for early career teachers
- teacher wellbeing for early career teachers
- full-day and part-day “Reconnecting to learning – understanding the traumatised child” courses
- individual support, coaching and modelling for schools and school leaders.
QuEST live online programs are also continuing right through until October. These programs can be undertaken from anywhere in the state, and all occur outside of school hours. During the school holidays, members participated in a suite of “Thriving leaders” programs. Coming up this semester we have programs on a wide range of topics, including behaviour management, teacher wellbeing, delivering PD to colleagues, and working with students with ASD or ADHD. These programs are open to all members and are a great way to complete mandatory PD hours.
As always, any enquiries regarding QuEST programs, including bookings and queries, can be directed to quest@qtu.asn.au
