New Regional Organisers appointed
Queensland Teachers' Journal, Vol 126 No 7, 8 October 2021, page no.4
At August State Council, two new Regional Organisers were appointed to commence at the beginning of the 2022 school year.
With Metropolitan North Organiser Lin Esders moving into a Research Officer role and the pending retirement of North Queensland Organiser Paul Waters, two vacancies were filled after a selection process by the QTU Appointment Committee and a recommendation to State Council.
We congratulate and welcome Mel de Waard as the new Metropolitan North Regional Organiser and Chris Munro as the new North Queensland Regional Organiser.
Mel has most recently been acting as a QTU project officer but is substantively a high school English, humanities and tourism teacher at Springfield Central State High School. Chris, who has recently acted as both the Wide Bay and North Queensland Regional Organiser, is substantively the principal of Norville State School in Bundaberg.
Both Mel and Chris have been long-term activists with the QTU. Mel has been a member of QTU State Council and Area Council for the Springfield branch and Lead Union Rep in the Metropolitan West Logan Area. Chris has been a QTU Principal Union Rep in the Wide Bay and State Conference Delegate for the Bundaberg South Branch.
