A new year, a new QTU Rep Kit!
Queensland Teachers' Journal, Vol 127 No 2, 11 March 2022, page no.6
Union Reps in schools will by now have received a new Union Rep Toolkit to assist them in their role.
The new-look kit contains new or redesigned resources in response to the feedback received from Reps in the 2021 Union Rep Survey.
The new kit contains information on your role as a Rep, some tips for establishing and maintaining a QTU culture in the workplace, and our mission, values, and vision.
The QTU is looking to refresh noticeboards across Queensland schools, as a key place for Union news and Union wins to be shared with members.
Reps will find handy postcards for new members and some forms with which education students can join us for free as associate members. A card containing the QTU’s Acknowledgement of Traditional Owners is also included, to enable Reps to acknowledge First Nations peoples when opening workplace meetings.
The calendar marking last year’s 50th anniversary of the Queensland College of Teachers is enclosed, and some information about the QTU’s own health fund, Teachers’ Union Health, which is also celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
The QTU wall planner was included in the November Journal from last year. Reps who prefer this larger wall planner can contact the QTU for a copy.
The Union Rep Kit, which also contains a whistle and a Union Rep badge, comes in a handy reusable box. Reps are also encouraged to keep an eye on the QTU website, access training through QTEC courses, and consider QuEST professional development opportunities.
Thank you to all QTU Reps in workplaces for doing your part to keep our Union strong. We acknowledge the important work you do and the key role that you play in representing the QTU and the views of members at your workplace.
