Labour Day: What a turn out!
Queensland Teachers' Journal, Vol 127 No number 4, 3 June 2022, page no. 12
That’s a wrap for Labour Day 2022, and what a celebration it turned out to be!
Members right across the state turned out in their thousands to enjoy the marches, followed by family fun days, sausage sizzles, jumping castles, catch-ups with friends new and old, music, laughter, face painting, chants of solidarity, even a community marching band.
Members heeded the call to join us and they arrived at our marches with their sisters, uncles, grannies, mums, babies (so cute in those shirts!), colleagues and friends.
It was truly a Labour Day that celebrated our Union and our people, from Thursday Island to Toowoomba and everywhere in between.
Wherever we were, the message was clear. Our members in state schools and TAFEs, our great profession… this is what we are proud of and it’s what we will never stop fighting for. The workers, united, will never be defeated.
See you all at Labour Day 2023.
