QTU members lead EB11 campaign with strength and solidarity
Queensland Teachers' Journal, Vol 130 No 7, 3 October 2025, page no 8 & 9.
As Term 3 drew to a close, QTU members proudly rallied at 18 EB11 events across Queensland — including in Brisbane, Beaudesert, Bundaberg, Cairns, Emerald, Gladstone, the Gold Coast, Gympie, Hervey Bay, Kingaroy, Mackay, Mareeba, Mt Isa, Rockhampton, the Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Townsville and Warwick.
These gatherings brought together hundreds of passionate QTU members, united in their commitment to keep the campaign visible and to show their gratitude for the overwhelming support shown by their local communities.
In addition to these rallies, members have engaged parents and other community members outside workplaces and held high-visibility activities in major transport corridors — amplifying our message far and wide. Having been part of many QTU campaigns over the years, both as a teacher activist and now as a Union official, I can confidently say that the level of positive community and parent support we’ve seen in recent months is truly unprecedented.
At every event, one message rang loud and clear: teachers and school leaders deserve respect — from the community, from their employer, and from the government.
A heartfelt thank you to every member who donned maroon, stood tall, and helped make these events such a resounding success. Your voice is powerful, and together we are being heard.
