Your health, wealth, and future
Queensland Teachers' Journal, Vol 131 No 2, 2 April 2026, page no 28.
Many schools across the state access QTU presentations as part of their student free day professional development, covering everything from working conditions and occupational violence and aggression to industrial and campaign updates, and even professional issues.
For some genuine financial wellbeing to kickstart the year, a number of schools access the “Your health, wealth and future” session. This features short presentations from the QTU, Union Shopper, Remserv Lease, Fitness Passport, Teachers’ Health (formerly TUH), Remserv Salary, and QSuper/ART. These sessions provide an opportunity to assess the value of memberships and the everyday savings available, and discover how to maximise tax and health benefits, as well as focusing on some easy steps to grow your retirement savings.
The QTU – making the most out of the services and benefits of your membership
- Union Shopper – savings on vehicles, white goods and technology, plus everyday expenses such as groceries and fuel using digital gift card discounts.
- Remserv Lease – novated leasing benefits.
- Teachers’ Health – important information about private health and utilising your extras.
- Remserv Salary – the benefits of salary packaging and salary sacrificing.
- QSuper/ART – understanding your super, investments, salary sacrificing super, insurances and occupational rating financial benefits.
- Fitness Passport – accessing a large range of fitness options for you and your family.
With some easy tips on ensuring quick access to benefits, members can attend to some “life admin” and improve financial wellbeing in a genuine way.
It is important to note that our partner organisations ensure that our members are educated about their health and finances. If you would like one of these sessions, contact your Organiser. Please note that in some parts of the state it will be challenging to organise all partners presenting at the same time.
The QTU is working on developing a virtual online recorded version of this session, to be accessible to schools across Queensland that may not be able to access the coordinated live version.
