Our amazing CAOs

When people think about the Union's work, they often picture Organisers in schools, supporting members, leading campaigns, and advocating for improved conditions and outcomes. What is less visible, but no less essential, is the work carried out every day by our Country Administration Officers (CAOs).
Spread across our great state in Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Toowoomba, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, and Hervey Bay, our seven CAOs are the backbone of regional operations. They are often the first point of contact for members, providing support, answering enquiries, and ensuring members are connected with the right people when they need assistance. Behind the scenes, they coordinate school visits, organise area council meetings and professional development events, manage regional communications, and keep countless administrative processes moving. They are also the custodians of Organisers’ calendars, a task that sounds simple until you consider the competing priorities, travel requirements, meetings, member matters, and events that must all fit together seamlessly.
The role requires adaptability, patience, initiative, and an extraordinary attention to detail. Whether responding to a member query, supporting the logistics of a local event, or helping an Organiser navigate a busy week, CAOs consistently demonstrate professionalism, care, and a strong commitment in every interaction.
Like many of the most important roles in any organisation, much of their work happens quietly and without fanfare. Yet their contribution is felt every day. They are the glue that connects our regional offices, supports our Organisers, and helps ensure members receive the service and support they deserve.
Our seven CAOs may work in different corners of Queensland, but together they embody the commitment, professionalism, and dedication that make our Union stronger.
