QTU peace and equity

Since 1990, the QTU has proudly been running the Peace and Equity Awards in Queensland state schools. 

Over the years, the rules of this annual statewide art competition have remained the same: Create an artwork influenced by the United Nations’ Day of Peace theme. Each year, the QTU encourages members to engage with their students on their entries. 

In 2024, the theme was “Cultivating a culture of peace”. We received countless submissions from across the state. Each artwork was admired and appreciated for the effort, thought and creativity demonstrated by its budding young artist.

In 2025, the QTU encourages members to consider this competition as an opportunity for their students to engage in a real-world arts experience. Details about this year’s competition will be released in a later edition of the Journal, with entries closing 
mid-October.
