TAFE photo competition

This years’ National TAFE Day saw the staging of the inaugural AEU TAFE Photography Competition Exhibition, showcasing our state and territory finalists’ views of student life on TAFE campuses.
The photo submitted by our Queensland finalist, Steven Krige, was taken in the carpentry workshop at Acacia Ridge Campus, where he is studying the Certificate III in Carpentry.
Explaining what inspired his image, Steven said: "There are so many places and stuff we do that encapsulates life on campus, sitting with friends at the canteen, digging or building scaffolding in an outdoor block or even doing a set out or form work for a house, but in the end I went with what we started out with at the beginning of the year, hand tools, the most basic tools and yet so effective.
"This image takes me back to the beginning of the year when we had just started. We did not know anybody, but yet we were here and in the same class. Fast forward to when this image was taken, we have become friends, we do things together, we are a team and we work together, we help, we encourage, we learn, we don’t stand alone at the workbench we crowd around it and have fun together while we learn."
Federal Training Minister Brendan O’Connor announced the overall winner, Mei Ho, a Vietnamese student studying Culinary Arts at SuniTAFE’s Mildura Campus (Victoria).
