Publication of Teaching and Learning Audit Results.

Members would be aware that it is the intention of The Courier Mail to publish the results of the Teaching and Learning Audits conducted in schools tomorrow.

The QTU is opposed to the publication of this information as Teaching and Learning Audit reports provide a point in time analysis of a school based on the key indicators in the Audit tool and are not intended to be a comparator of schools.

Members participated in the Teaching and Learning Audits with a commitment from the Department that the information would not be misused or publicly released. The publication of the results in the paper tomorrow is a breach of this commitment.

The QTU is receiving further advice regarding the decision of the Government to release the information today and a Newsflash will be sent to schools on Monday.

Right to Teach - Right to Learn is the QTU strategy to inform members of their rights and responsibilities, to empower members in the workplace to protect their industrial and professional rights, and to take the lead in dealing with the workplace issues that matter most to them.

Familiarise yourself with your rights and responsibilities and learn how to assert them, both on a workplace and systemic level with links to resources such as: the entitlements of teachers; campaign plans; information brochures and step by step guides..

Social & Environmental NETWORKS

Five networks have been established:

1.    Peace and International;
2.    Environmental;
3.    Gay/lesbian bi-sexual transgender  and inter-sex teachers (GLBTI)
4.    Social Justice Issues; and
5.    Socially disadvantaged groups.

The Union believes these networks allow the majority of the committee areas of responsibility to continue and potentially open up areas of interest to the wider membership.
