The Federal Government is planning to put the test results of every school on a new website. Unless that data is protected there will be nothing to stop the media using it to create and publish invalid and misleading league tables. Ranking schools in league tables is bad for schools, students, teachers and parents.

From 2010, teachers are required to undertake professional development depending on the number of hours the teacher has worked in a year in order to maintain their registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCOT)

THe Queensland College of Teachers has developed an online CPD recording tool to assist teachers to record their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) from 2010. Note: There is no prerequisite for teachers to use this worksheet - diary records are acceptable. Read the above Fact Sheet .

Government to open ballot on new Certified Agreement on 8 February 2010 :

The Department, as a requirement of the IR Act, must conduct a ballot of employees. This ballot will open on Monday 8 February and close on Friday 26 February 2010. The QTU strongly encourages all members to vote in the employer-run ballot.

Newsflash 26-09 : 24 November 20089

Members have voted overwhelmingly in favour of accepting the EB6 settlement package.
At the close of counting, over 22,400 members had participated in the ballot with 82.5 percent voting in favour of the package.
Of the 930 workplaces that provided returns, over 94 percent voted in favour.
