Emma Miller award recipient – 2006
Adriana commenced teaching in 1969. She became a deputy principal in 2000 and completed her career in this role at Brassall State School in Ipswich.
Her Union involvement began as Secretary /Treasurer of Lower Burdekin Branch in 1975. On transfer to Maryborough in 1976, she became President of the Maryborough Branch of the Union and served on State Council from 1981. Over time she was an active member of the Primary Promotions, Union Development, Appointments, Curriculum, Professional, Sexism in Education, Salaries and Industrial Conditions, Australian Teachers' Federation and Legal Committees.
She was also a delegate to Australian Teachers Federation and Women's Conferences and was a teacher-elected member of the Board of Teacher Registration from 1989 to 1994. Elected as a member of the Union's Executive in 1996 and Trustee of the QTU in 2001, Adriana served in these roles until her retirement in July 2006, when she became a QTU Life Member.
