Emma Miller Award Recipients
Lyn Winch
Emma Miller award recipient - 2011
Lyn joined the QTU in 1970, and after becoming a school Union Representative in 1974, went on to serve long terms in branch, State Council, standing committee and Executive positions for the QTU, culminating in seven years as QTU Honorary Vice-President. She has also served on principal selection panels and other outside bodies.
Lyn, who became a school principal in 1982, lived the belief that principals must remain part of the QTU. She demonstrated to her colleagues that unity among all educators is strength and has advocated at every level to maintain principal membership within the Union. She also worked to fend off encroaching privatisation and lobbied relentlessly for the Gonski fair funding reforms.
Lyn gave 22 years of service on the Education Leaders’ Committee, 26 years on the Professional/Curriculum Committee and 14 years as the AEU Women’s Conference delegate.
